Akribis New Compact Linear Positioning Stages Provide High Precision and Repeatability

Compact Linear Positioning Stages

If your automated application calls for point-to-point or high-speed positioning, it’s a safe bet that precision and compact size will also be significant concerns as you consider positioning mechanisms. At Akribis, we’re introducing several positioning stages that satisfy these critical needs. In addition to compact size and accuracy, our stages address many other objectives thanks to important features such as:

  • Direct drive technology. Linear stages with direct drive motors offer several advantages versus other driving methods. Benefits include greater speed, acceleration and precision, less wear and maintenance, as well as low noise and vibration. Because direct drive stages do not emit particles, they are also suitable for use in cleanrooms.
  • Integrated high-accuracy encoders. Stages with integrated encoders with micrometer feedback resolution ensure accurate positioning.
  • Repeatability. Stages must return to the same position every time. Too much variation in repeated movements is undesirable in critical industries and many automated industrial processes.
Akribis linear positioning stages come with self-lubricating linear guides to provide good rigidity without maintenance interruptions, and they are available in compact sizes to fit into constrained spaces typically found in applications like electronics, semiconductor and biotechnology, to name a few. Here are three of our newest linear positioning stages:

LML70 Series. This single-axis direct drive linear motor stage comes in a compact, stackable module with self-lubricating dual linear guides, 0.05 µm-resolution optical encoder and strong aluminum construction. Characteristics include 17.1N of continuous force (Fcn) and 51.3N peak (Fpk), and ±1 μm repeatability.

AFC90 Series. Combining direct drive motor technology with dual linear guides and 0.05 µm-resolution optical encoder to deliver highly precise positioning, the AFC90 linear stage provides 20 to 34N of continuous force (Fcn) and 55 to 91N peak (Fpk). This stackable unit can be combined with another direct drive linear module to form an X-Y stage.

AFC90SMZ Series. This compact Z-axis module with direct drive technology provides 55 to 91N peak force (Fpk) and continuous forces from 20 to 34N (Fcn), with repeatability of up to ±0.5 µm. Features include a high torque constant, high acceleration and deceleration, a self-lubricating linear guide, 0.05 µm-resolution optical encoder and magnetic spring technology for gravity compensation.
